Community First Oxfordshire – Annual General Meeting 2024

You are cordially invited to attend the Annual General Meeting of Community First Oxfordshire.

Date:            Wednesday 23 October

Venue:         Online via Zoom

Time:            10:00-11:30

We are delighted that Charlie Luxton, an architectural designer (Charlie Luxton Design) and television presenter, is joining us to talk about the climate impact of the construction, exploring the recent Hook Norton Community Land Trust development as an example of delivering affordable, low carbon housing in rural areas.

Following a brief introduction, Charlie will give his talk – there will be an opportunity to ask questions afterwards.

The formal business matters of the AGM will then follow, and we expect the meeting to finish by 11.30am.

Please let me know if you would like to attend and I will send the Zoom link – or you can register directly via Eventbrite:

Campaign for Disability Justice

National campaign is a step change in disability justice

We all want a decent quality of life for ourselves and those we care about. Yet two million Disabled people are trapped in deep poverty, unable to afford to eat or to heat their home.

Social security doesn’t cover the hidden or additional costs of disability – things like electricity to run vital equipment and transport to get out of your home. And too many workplaces are unwilling to employ Disabled people.

That’s why we are backing the national Campaign for Disability Justice, calling on Government to work with organisations led by Disabled people to guarantee:

Opportunity

To support employers to create more accessible jobs and to ensure Disabled people have voluntary access to good quality employment support, without the threat of sanctions.

Security

To guarantee a decent standard of living for Disabled people, in or out of work, that adequately accounts for the additional costs they face. Improve social security so that everyone can live a decent life, whether they’re in work or not.

Respect

To lead the way in building a society that respects and values Disabled people and supports the development of local Disabled People’s Organisations (DPOs).

Please, ACT NOW and sign up to support the campaign. Don’t forget to spread the word to your friends and families.  Follow on X at @CampaignFDJ and sign up at www.campaignfordisabilityjustice.org.uk
