Community First Oxfordshire is delighted to hear of the opening of the refurbished village hall in Fringford, near Bicester. Councillor Les Harris was on duty to cut the ribbon in front of the guests from the village and beyond.
Our Community Buildings and Retail Advisor, Lynne Newin has been involved throughout the project, working jointly with the village hall management committee and parish council. She has provided support, help and advice from the outset attending meetings and has been on hand at the other end of the telephone and email. The advice offered by Community First Oxfordshire includes practical advice on a wide range of topics including VAT, funding, energy audits, DDA, capacity of the hall.
The project cost £240,000 with work beginning in June. The hall has seen a side and rear extension to the previous structure with new toilet and kitchen facilities as well as a new meeting room and store room. Funding was secured from Parish Council, TOE2, landfill operators Viridor Credits, Wren, Opes and Doris Field as well as the local village fundraising events.
We’re sure you will agree the hall looks remarkable. See the progress of the hall in this video below charting the progress from demolition to completion:
